CRICKETING CAREER
Who
had the greatest influence on your career
My parents, I was lucky enough to have a Mum who was dedicated
and loving enough to take me to all the matches and tryouts and
practices etc. And my Stepfather was always in the back yard
playing against me and putting up with me asking for “ohh just
one more ball!”
ultimate
cricketing aspiration
Play for NSW in 4-Day and One-Day cricket. And to enjoy every
game that I play.
most
memorable cricketing moment/s
Earning my first NSW baggy blue. Winning Sydney First Grade
Premiership with St. George 2007/08, and captaining St. George
Poidevin-Gray team to 3rd premiership in 4 years.
worst
cricketing moment
Being injured (groin) when playing for NSW in a 4-Day game at
the Basin Reserve in Wellington, and couldn’t bowl the final
day. Let the team down.
funniest
cricketing moment
Our warm-up routine at St. George, we play a heated game of
soccer then go to a stretch, during the stretch each player HAS
to be 100% honest in saying any “personal sexual experiences” in
the previous week. Some pretty hilarious stories!
Who
is your best friend in Irish Cricket and why
Anyone who I’ve met so far.. I’m sure the friendships will
develop as the season goes on.
IRISH CRICKET
favourite
Irish cricketer (past and present), and why
Trent Johnston, because he’s my skipper! And led an
inexperienced Irish team at such a huge event like the World Cup
so admirably.
favourite Irish cricket ground, and why
Railway Union.. Because it’s the only one ive seen!
best young
Irish cricketer you have seen in recent times
Kenny Carroll or Connor Mullen
What do you think of
overseas professionals in Irish club cricket
Haha I think they are GREAT! Especially that bloke playing for
Railway.
Do you think bowlers
should be restricted in domestic cricket
Yes, tests the depth of each team in the way that you cannot
rely on two strike bowlers.
What are your main
complaints about Irish cricket
Its too cold!
How would you set
about improving the standard of Irish cricket
Improving playing facilities, common response to how a club is
viewed.. “Terrible pitch”, “Slow, dead wicket”.
INTERNATIONAL CRICKET |
Test team you support, and why
Australia, growing up in the country where cricket is the
national sport every young boy wants to be like his favourite
player and one day represent his country.
overseas
countries you have played
New Zealand, South Africa, England and Ireland.
Which
was your favourite, and why
South Africa. My first trip overseas, was with a lot of young
guys and girls who I was good mates with and developed a strong
bond with. The cultural experience of places like Durban and
Zululand were priceless. And the cricket was fun too.
favourite world cricketer, and why
Andrew Symonds, the way he enjoys his cricket, has so much
desire and passion to play for Australia and is what I think is
the closest the world has at the moment to the ‘complete’
cricketer.
favourite English cricketer, and why
Michael Vaughan or
Kevin Pietersen. Both stand up against the top nations under
pressure and do well. Both have finished series against
Australia in recent times having averaged over 50 and left an
impression on the team which is a difficult and admirable thing
to do.
