Match Report - Saturday 20 June - Knockharley
Sometimes Sport allows us the opportunity to
experience a real sense of achievement, thus was the
case for the RUCC openers against Knockharley.
Rangan (59) and Mustafa(61) secured a fantastic
opening partnership of 100 and ensured a place in
4ths folklore, well at least for this season. From
the word go Rangan attacked the openers with now
characteristic aggression hitting well timed,
balanced and penetrating shots to the four corners
of the ground. It is frightening to think that
Mustafa scored an effortless (61) whilst asleep, yes
asleep. There are those amongst us who feel that
Mushy was in a deep trance, caused by the level of
mediocrity of those minions around him! The Captain,
having loss the toss(whats new),was forced to break
the news to him team who immediately stopped taking
the mickey out of Neville and turned their attention
on the Captain in a rather vitriolic attack.
Knockharley batted first in a topsy turvy innings
that saw the initiative shift one way then the
other. Simba(44) and A Elliot(46) batted superbly
for the visitors who subsequently posted their
highest total of the season so far of 193. In a
tense dressing room the Captain appealed for calm
and called for smart cricket from his team.
Laughable given the bunch of Night Club owning,
Jiyhad war mongering, alcoholic, adulterous drug
taking crackheads that comprise the team. Great
bowling by Abdullah 3 for 33 off 8 and Colm Flanagan
3 for 34 off 8 was central to the victory. Graham
Chisholm and David Shira batted superbly to steer
home RUCC to a well deserved victory by 6 wickets.
Match Report -
Sunday 14 June - North Wicklow
As we drove due south along the N11 with St Georges
channel on our left and the vale of Avoca on our
right a deep sense of forboding took hold.
Principally because of the bloody great big black
clouds chucking stairods down in Wicklow. However,
this was totally opposite to the warmth of the
reception we received upon arrival. North Wicklow
won the toss and put RUCC to bat(Captain has never
won a toss, what a loser) mistake! Graham Chisholm
rolled backed the years hitting a youthful knock of
(46), this knock was comprised mainly of singles and
twos, a great testimony to Grahams fitness and
batting ability.
With a subtle blend of experience, great skill and
bravery Rangan set about their accurate bowling
attack scoring yet another knock in the forties(42).
What a revelation Rangan has been, re-energised and
totally motivated, he is enjoying his cricket and is
totally awesome!. Damian Gargan warmed up nicely for
the Ashes hitting a an effortless (32),RUCC notching
up a creditable 155. N. Michael bowled well for
Wicklow with figures of 3 for 17 off 7. After a
sumptious Tea North Wicklow tried their best but
were no match for a vibrant RUCC bowling attack
spearheaded by Hadley Southall (2 for 17 off 7) and
Colm Flanagan (4 for 29 off 5). Other valuable
wickets were secured by Mustafa,Chisholm,Gargan and
Lequeria. Result RUCC won by 70 runs.
Match Report - Tuesday
2 June - Merrion (Whelan Cup)
Mayser's Marauders Mauled
The
sporting Gods are a cruel and callous deity who
exact vengeance with a flick of whatever it is they
flick! Merrion won the toss and rightly batted. In
the RUCC dressing room a sharp exchange between a
small bald, fat has been and a tall, morbidly obese
bald has been centred on the room being told Merrion
scored 250 during their previous knock the Captain
(see above) a tall bad tempered individual snorted
"it matters not". Merrion fielded a strong side RUCC
were missing three key players a bridge too far.
With a total of 151 Railway had their work cut out.
with superb figures of 3for 29
Hadley Southall
showed his real class ably supported by Neville
Clarke (Nobby Stiles of P
ark Ave) 2for 24 Colm
Flanagan 2 for 46 Iain Mays 2for 41. Mays also went
on to score an excellent 34 not out. The Big Man is
back with a bang. One man has to be singled out for
special mention and that man is yes you guessed it
Rangan the randy bugger the James Bond of Park Ave
produced the goods when required. He hit a brilliant
47 leading from the front he showed his real class.
The Captain shall send you and Pussy Galore to
Marbella for a week if you keep that up. Basically,
the Captain (a novice learning his trade) cost his
team the game we only learn when we lose so lets do
our homework and get better. Bring on Knockharley!
RUCC
lost by 27 runs

Match Report - Sunday 31 May - Civil Service
Like a
group of ageing adult film stars on set the Fourths
have finally arrived!. On a gorgeous day Civil
Service won the toss and put Railway to
bat,Pankaj(23) and Mustafa(14) grounded the innings
with Rangan hitting a creditable( 29)and Brennie
Mays (44) a solid total was posted(156).Bishal
bowled a tight line for Civil Service and was ably
supported by Mulvey (Bohs fan-poor chap) and Brady.
Civil Service began their innings like Bengal Tigers
indeed one of their batsmen (Sanjeel) huffed and
puffed his way to a great knock of 40 odd he is a
great character and typified the excellent spirit
the match was played in. Thanks to great bowling by
Graham Chisolm (consummate professional) with 4 for
14 and the vastly improved Colm Flanagan 2 for 9 and
the first class fielding of Conor Lequeria and
Ciaran Diviney we contained Civil Service(113) and
won the match thereby setting our stall! Special
mention has to go to Paul Byrne (Burner) who kept
wicket like a cross between Nobber (Niall O Brien)
and Peder Chek casting aside his 31yrs he dived one
way then the next what a man. For Chis to produce
the best bowling figures of any bowler on the day
was just typical of the man well done you old
bastard!! |
